For a PVC floor in the living room, we recommend a glue-down PVC floor. A glue-down PVC floor is adhered to the subfloor and is very suitable for underfloor heating. Glue-down PVC (dryback) floors generally have a longer lifespan than Click PVC. Because PVC is very water-resistant, you can extend such floors from the living room to your kitchen, ideal for an apartment or smaller new-build homes. This keeps your floor looking serene. For the living room, most people choose herringbone or straight planks. Tile PVC is more commonly laid in utility rooms, hallways, or showrooms.
Whalebone Herringbone in the living room
In living rooms, many people also opt for large format herringbone floors, also known as whalebone herringbone. This creates a cozy and playful look. The most well-known is the Floer Whalebone Herringbone Orca untreated oak, or choose the Belakos Attico Herringbone XL 83. Is your living room a bit smaller? Then regular size herringbone PVC is also definitely a nice option. Make sure that at least 3 rows of herringbone (i.e., 3x the V-shape) can be laid. That looks the best.
Top flooring brands
At flooring store Solza, you can choose from various brands of glue-down PVC such as Floer, Floorify, VTwonen, Belakos, and Floorlife. These brands supply dimensionally stable materials that are easy to install and comply with current standards. For the living room, we supply light to dark oak, and from super-sleek knot-free to lively rustic with knots PVC floors. Also available in the form of PVC tiles in beige, concrete look, and terrazzo look designs. However, floor tiles are less commonly used in living rooms.
Floorify PVC tiles and long 2-meter planks
The trendy brand Floorify is also known for its beautiful PVC tile floors such as the Jellyfish and Coquille. In addition, they also supply 2-meter long PVC planks in a fresh oak-look called Seychelles. This bestseller is definitely worth a look if you like the look of oak with the benefits of a PVC floor in your home.
Tip for the living room
Don't choose a trendy color, but go for a color/look that you will enjoy for years and that combines well with your furniture and wall color. Choose quality so that the floor lasts a long time, which is better for your footprint and the environment. Do you have a rental property and potentially want to take the floor with you later? Then choose a click PVC floor. If you're looking for a long lifespan and an even stronger solution, then go for glue-down PVC floors.
